Happy "birthday" to Min Yi! Today (or yesterday, rather) she was one month old! Here's how she celebrated:

Well, first things first, before I forget. What's new? Well, the following:
- A new gallery called faces (more on that below)
- An explanation of Min Yi's name
- More about this website (geeks only)
I've been very very quiet, I know. Amazing how the birth of a child can speed up time :-) The past month has been a very hectic ride, and there a no signs of slowing down (some people advise me to be patient for another 18 years). One of the things I have tried to work on a little bit is this little project called "faces". Not "faeces", although I see plenty of that lately as well. No, "faces". I thought it would be nice to capture some facial expressions of Min Yi. I can just look at her face and be amazed. It's wonderful to see such a small human being be so alive and absorbed in the moment. They're almost Buddhists: they don't think of what just happened and don't worry about what's to come. They only live NOW. One moment they cry, the next moment they ARE a big yawn. Wonderful.
Some quick facts from the last 3 weeks:
Min Yi
- visited her first Chinese restaurant (Nam Kee in Amsterdam). She politely declined the Won Ton soup.
- weighed 4265 grams on March 29th. That's 1 kg in 4 weeks! Supersize THAT!
- became noticably more alert when she was about 2 weeks old. You could say she came out of her Permanently Vegetative State [sorry, couldn't resist].
- doesn't like sleeping. Instead she thinks it's something evil that she needs to fight. Fortunately, she sleeps well at night.
- has visited her great-grandmother and stole her heart.
- can look REALLY serious.
- fooled her parents into thinking that she really smiled at them.
- has yet to discover that taking a bath is supposed to be fun :-)
