Hotel "Westzijde"
By now, our house starts to feel like a hotel. We want one of us to be with Min Yi most of the time, so Li and I both spend most of our time in the hospital. One of us will go back to sleep (officially only one parent can sleep in the hospital) and perhaps clean up a little at home... what little is left to do. We both feel disconnected from our house though. It feels like an empty shell that we go back to, and very very quiet. After living here with three people for four months (remember we both don't work), it really feels unnatural to see it empty.
The hospital, on the other hand, almost feels like home. After a while, you know all the nurses and doctors and become more familiar. We eat there, drink there and take care of Min Yi. It's a strange situation, because it feels like someone has pressed "pause" on our lives. It's not so much that we can't do anything, because we can. We both still do our own thing, from time to time. But less so, because we just don't have the inclination.
Timewise, we're almost at a third now. Tomorrow Min Yi wll have been there for one week, with two more to go. And today is our first real day off together. My mother takes care of Min Yi today, which gives us a chance to go out and just do something together, without worrying about her (yeah right, as if we could).
