The last three days have been happy, for a number of reasons. Last night my sister took care of Min Yi, allowing Li and myself to go to a party and enjoy ourselves. We returned early (for Li to sleep in the hospital), but had a great time nonetheless!
Great news: Min Yi's allowed out of traction for about an hour everyday now! It's hard to overstate the significance of this: for over a week we have not been able to really hold her. Very painful as parents and I'm sure not very nice for her either. So yesterday morning I was really touched that I could once again hold my 小娃娃 (little baby)!
But perhaps more importantly, Min Yi has been very happy over the last three days. She's slept well, eaten well and was generally playful and content. Such a difference with before: she had her ups and downs but was generally more unhappy than we've seen her at home. Anyway, here's hoping she'll continue to feel happy!
Skinwise, she's also doing fine. The skin on her legs (under the wrapping) is REALLY dry, but it's all closed, and we've now started applying a cream that her skin absorps very well and makes it slightly less dry.
By mid-week, an x-ray photo will be taken of her hips, to monitor her progress. It goes without saying that we're very anxious to know the results!
Check out the new photos that I uploaded. I added two more faces and a bunch of pictures to the hospital section. Looking at the hospital section you will see how weird this situation is. Min Yi really can't do anything else but eat, sleep and play with her hands. So it's no surprise that she's now quite good at using her hands to pick up toys, drop them, rotate them and of course put them in her mouth :-) Perhaps it is this discovery that her hands are quite sophisticated tools that made her so happy over the last few days.
