The most amazing thing happened to me just now. I got a phone call from the hospital. It was a nurse from the children's ward, asking me how Min Yi was doing and if she had slept well last night. Of course, this phone call didn't come out of the blue, because yesterday was a BIG DAY: Min Yi was recasted. Still, it was an unexpected bit of after sales service :-)
If you can't contain yourself: there is of course a picture of the new and improved Min Yi. Yesterday was a long day. We had to be in the hospital at 07.00, so that meant waking up around 06.00! Li couldn't be there because she was in Brussels for a training, so my mother helped me with moral support and also to transport Min Yi to the hospital (she has to be held because we don't have a car seat that she fits in, yet). Unlike last time, Min Yi didn't like the anesthesia and struggled. When I saw her again in the recovery room she was very upset. I have never seen her this upset before, and it took I think almost an hour for her to completely calm down. She was very thirsty of course, and water and milk helped her feel better. In fact, after her milk she was happy and stayed happy!
We came home around 14.00 and Min Yi drank and went to bed. The rest of the day she slept a little bit more than usual but other than that she felt great. She was really happy and still liked her rice (that would have been a real shocker). Unfortunately, she didn't have any scan or X-ray taken yesterday so I have no idea how her legs are doing. We've got to go back in on Friday for the CT scan and X-ray. And in six weeks' time (October 31st) she'll have the cast taken off!!! And the best news of all: the Wednesday after she will have a brace fitted, that we can then pick up a few days later. This means she'll be completely free for a few days! What a joy! I can't wait!
I placed a few more photos:
